Tips for a better result

  1. 01
    Use the full song.

The intro or a short clip may not have the full chords yet.

  2. 02
    Check the relative key.

If the song sounds sad, the minor key is usually the right one; if it sounds bright, the major.

  3. 03
    Confirm the BPM by tapping.

Tap along for a few seconds. If your number is half or double, trust what you feel.

  4. 04
    Songs that change key.

The result is the key heard most of the time. Modulations at the end may not show.

Common questions

How accurate is it?

Songs with a steady beat usually get the right BPM. Sometimes the result is half or double (for example 70 or 140), so both are shown. A song in a minor key can be read as its relative major, because they use the same notes, so both are shown too.

What is the Camelot code?

It is the key wheel DJs use. Songs with the same number, or a number next to it, usually mix well together.

Why does it say 432 Hz or another tuning?

Some songs are tuned a little higher or lower than the standard 440 Hz. The page adjusts for this before finding the key and tells you when it happens.

Is my song uploaded?

No. The song is analyzed in your own browser, and the file is not sent to any server.
